closet to reading nook

Harry Potter had his own little cupboard under the stairs. He lived there, dreamed there, dreamed of getting away from his despicable aunt and uncle and cousin Dudley. While fans certainly felt sorry for Harry having to exist in such a depressing, cramped space, there’s an upside to having your own little niche, maybe something not quite so…dark and dreary and dank. 

I’m always searching for weird little DIY projects—benches to make or ways to upcycle stuff. On my latest march through Pinterest, I ran across how to turn a closet into a reading nook. No kidding. Before you think I’ve gone and lost what little of my mind I have left, it isn’t such a bad idea. And they’re so cute that even Harry Potter might’ve traded in his drab cubbyhole for one of these little nooks with books. Having a cool place to hang out and read, a place to drift into a story doesn’t sound so bad when it’s been refabbed into a kid’s special little library. Okay, I don’t know. Maybe it’s a girl thang. But giving the kids a place to read makes it seem like reading might really be important.
